Pokemon Go, a game with a rich history, continues to adapt and grow by introducing new elements and updates on a regular basis. Apart from the core activity of capturing various Pokemon, players can also participate in battles, hatch eggs, exchange gifts, and embark on quests within the game. Community days dedicated to specific Pokemon and a plethora of challenges await players. This article will explore the realm of Raids in Pokemon Go.

Deciphering Pokemon Go Raids Pokemon Go Raids occur when a specific Pokemon seizes control of a Gym. During a Raid, regardless of the team in charge of the gym or the Pokemon present, all gym activities come to a halt. Instead, a larger version of the particular Pokemon involved in the Raid is showcased atop the gym.

Occasionally, Mega Raids may also take place, featuring Mega Evolved Pokemon within the gym.

Locating Raids Players can stumble upon Raids by exploring the map or accessing the Pokemon Nearby banner on the bottom right-hand side of the screen and navigating to the Raids section. This section displays all nearby scheduled raids. Some Raids feature eggs with a countdown timer indicating their appearance, while ongoing raids show the time remaining and the Pokemon present. The number of monster faces displayed indicates the Raid's difficulty level, with more faces suggesting the need for a larger group to tackle it.

Engaging in a Raid There are three ways to join a Raid. If within spinning distance of the Gym, players can participate in the battle as usual but must utilize a Raid Pass for entry. This pass acts as a ticket to partake in the Raid. Players can also invite up to five friends to join the battle. For remote raids that are not within spinning distance, a Remote Raid Pass can be used for entry. Additionally, players can invite up to five Pokemon Go friends to participate. If a friend is near a Raid or remotely accessing one, they can invite others to join. However, players cannot invite their own friends to such raids as they are already considered a plus one.

Exploring Ex Raids Ex Raids represent the rarest form of Raids, necessitating an invitation to partake. These exclusive Raids occur at Ex Gyms, identifiable by the EX GYM label. Typically situated in sponsored areas or expansive parks, these gyms provide the opportunity to capture Legendary Pokemon upon successful completion of a Raid. Players can invite an Ultra Friend to accompany them in these exclusive Raids.

Ex Raids often showcase themed Legendary Pokemon or Exclusive Moves, with the Pokemon eventually transitioning into the general Raid rotation after a year of exclusivity. Previous Ex Raids have featured Mewtwo, Deoxys, and Regigigas, with Regigigas currently active in Ex Raids.

Obtaining Raid Passes There are three types of passes available: Remote Raid Passes, Raid Passes, and Premium Raid Passes. Remote Raid Passes can be acquired in the in-game Shop for 100 PokeCoins each or 300 PokeCoins for a bundle of three. These passes may also be found in Special Boxes within the store. Orange (default) Raid Passes can be obtained by spinning a gym stop once a day, provided there is no pass already in the player's inventory. During specific periods, players may receive up to two Raid Passes per day through spinning. Premium Raid Passes function similarly to orange Raid Passes but can be purchased in unlimited quantities and used in Pokemon Trainer Battles.

Obtaining PokeBalls in Raids Upon completing a raid, players have the opportunity to capture the Pokemon they battled against using Premier Balls. These balls are not from the player's inventory but are provided in limited quantities. Players can earn additional Premier Balls by dealing the most damage in the battle, completing the raid swiftly, and having friends participate in the raid. Each friend in the raid grants the player a bonus ball, with stronger friends offering more balls.
