Tyson and Elliss travel to Paris as the Saints open Steelers week
Head coach Kellen Moore said on Monday, Oct. 19, that rookie receiver Jordyn Tyson and linebacker Kaden Elliss both made the trip to Paris for Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh. Tyson has not been activated from injured reserve, and his practice window has not been opened.

NEW ORLEANS: The Saints took two recovering players with them to Paris. Head coach Kellen Moore said on Monday, Oct. 19, that rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson and linebacker Kaden Elliss both traveled with the team ahead of Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to reports by Pro Football Rumors and Steelers Now.
Traveling is not the same as playing, and Moore offered no promise that either man will suit up on Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Stade de France. Steelers Now reported that it remains unclear whether Tyson will play, while noting that making the trip indicates he is close to a return after being out since mid-August.

What has to happen before Tyson can play
Tyson, this year’s No. 8 overall draft pick out of Arizona State, has yet to make his NFL debut. He injured a hamstring during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 13, according to Heavy, and he has spent the first six weeks of the season on injured reserve, according to Pro Football Rumors.
The Saints moved Tyson to injured reserve with a designation to return during roster cuts, so his activation has already been accounted for, Pro Football Rumors reported. His 21-day practice window has not yet been opened, and once the team opens it, New Orleans will have 21 days to bring him onto the active roster. Steelers Now likewise reported that Tyson has not been activated and that the practice window has not been officially opened.
The calendar gives the Saints room to be patient. The bye week follows the Paris game, and Pro Football Rumors noted that a cautious approach in practice could set up a Week 9 debut instead. New Orleans returns home on Nov. 8 against the Cleveland Browns, the first game after the bye.

Elliss on the same plane, Ruiz still waiting
Elliss traveled as well, according to both Pro Football Rumors and the Steelers Now report. Pro Football Rumors reported that Elliss first reached the league with New Orleans, later spent three seasons in Atlanta, and rejoined the Saints this year as a free agent. He has started all three games he has played in 2026 and has collected 24 tackles, according to that report.
The one member of the group still without an update is guard Cesar Ruiz. Steelers Now, relaying a report from the Saints coverage network NOF, said Moore told reporters the team does not yet have an update on Ruiz.
New Orleans goes to Paris at 2-4 after the 34-27 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, Oct. 18, at MetLife Stadium, according to the Saints recap of that game. Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh is the first NFL regular-season game played in France, with kickoff set for 8:30 a.m. Central, according to the Saints schedule information in that recap.
Tyson’s college record explains why the Saints want him back alongside Chris Olave. In nine games at Arizona State last season he caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns, and in 2024 he recorded 75 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games, according to Steelers Now. Heavy reported the Saints drafted him to form a wide receiver tandem with Olave. Whether that pairing finally appears in Paris, or waits until after the bye, now depends on a practice window that has not yet opened.
