Saints rookie Jordyn Tyson will not practice this week as hamstring recovery continues
Head coach Kellen Moore said Monday, Oct. 12, that the No. 8 overall pick will not return to practice this week. Tyson has been on injured reserve all season with a hamstring injury and has yet to make his NFL debut.

NEW ORLEANS: Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson will not practice this week as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, head coach Kellen Moore said on Monday, Oct. 12, pushing the first-round pick's NFL debut back at least another week.
Asked whether Tyson would return to practice this week, Moore said, "Not right now." Moore added, "He's progressing well," according to reports of the exchange in The Advocate and Saints Wire.

Tyson, the No. 8 overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft, has spent the first five weeks of the season on injured reserve and has yet to play a regular-season snap for New Orleans.
The hamstring injury dates to an Aug. 13 practice. The Advocate reported it came during a joint practice against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and RotoWire reported that Tyson has been on injured reserve all season after sustaining a right hamstring strain during an Aug. 13 training camp practice.
New Orleans drafted Tyson to serve as the No. 2 option in the passing game behind Chris Olave, giving quarterback Tyler Shough a second high-end target. Without him, Shough has leaned heavily on Olave, tight end Juwan Johnson and receiver Devaughn Vele, according to The Advocate.

The absence was felt on Sunday, when the Saints' passing attack was held below 100 yards in the 23-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings that dropped New Orleans to 1-4.
With no practice this week, Tyson will not be available for the Saints' game at the New York Giants on Oct. 18. Saints Wire put his soonest possible return in the following game, against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Paris on Oct. 25, while RotoWire reported that a return after the Saints' bye week is probably more realistic at this point.
The bye also frames the other hamstring return the Saints are waiting on. Running back Travis Etienne Jr. is on injured reserve with a hamstring injury of his own, and multiple reports put his earliest possible return on Nov. 8 against the Cleveland Browns, the Saints' first game after the bye.
Moore gave no new timetable for Tyson on Monday, and no report described a setback in his recovery. For a 1-4 offense that managed its lowest scoring output of the season on Sunday, the wait for its top draft pick goes on.
