Alan Jackson's Farewell Tour: Last Call Amid Health Struggles Renowned country artist Alan Jackson has revealed the final leg of his farewell tour, titled "Last Call: One More for the Road," as he confronts the challenges of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a progressive neurological disorder. After grappling with the diagnosis for a decade, Jackson has opted to provide his fans with a memorable experience, emphasizing, "I aim to deliver an exceptional performance," following his public acknowledgment of the condition. In a recent interview with Today, Jackson openly addressed his health condition, remarking, "There is no cure for it, but it has been impacting me for years, and its effects are becoming more pronounced." Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, as defined by the Mayo Clinic, is an inherited neurological disorder that results in nerve damage in the peripheral nerves linking the spine and brain to the limbs. Jackson attributes his condition to genetic inheritance from his father. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) stands as one of the most prevalent inherited neurological disorders, affecting around one in every 2,500 individuals in the United States, according to the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation. The nerve damage induced by CMT can lead to muscle atrophy and weakness, particularly in the ankles and feet, with some patients experiencing hand weakness, albeit less frequently. Neurologist Dr. John Kincaid, a specialist in CMT at Indiana University School of Medicine, clarified that most patients do not endure significant pain. While nerve damage can trigger pain or loss of sensation, these issues are secondary to muscle weakness in CMT, with the majority of individuals not encountering such symptoms. Alan Jackson's "Last Call" Tour Progresses At 65 years old, Jackson will carry on with his "Last Call" tour, which kicked off in 2022, featuring shows in ten cities across the United States from August 2024 to May 2025. Expressing his commitment to his fans, Jackson stated, "When fans attend my concerts, they anticipate hearing the songs that have defined my career—the ones they cherish. Despite touring for over three decades and relishing more time at home with my adult daughters and soon-to-be grandchild, my fans consistently show up for a good time, and I am dedicated to delivering an exceptional performance for this final tour." All tickets for the shows will be available for purchase starting Friday, June 7, with a percentage of each ticket sale contributing to the CMT Research Foundation.
